Views on Tourism Survey

Mackenzie Tourism (part of Mackenzie District Council) conducted their first ‘Views on Tourism’ survey in February and March 2025 to understand how our communities are feeling about tourism.

The survey is an action from the Mackenzie Tourism Action Plan, which was co-created between industry and Mackenzie Tourism.

The Views on Tourism programme is conducted by Angus and Associates and is a global framework to measure, benchmark and understand community sentiment, and unpack the benefits and adverse impacts of tourism in a district.

Tourism New Zealand and other regional tourism organisations across the country participate in the programme, meaning results can be compared and benchmarked with the national and regional (Canterbury) average, as well as other destinations.

The research will be used to guide activities and focus areas, as well as to have evidence-based conversations with key stakeholders such as central government.

Thank you to those who participated in the 2025 survey.
