Opihi River Track

Opihi River Track

The Opihi River Track, also known as the Fairlie Walkway, is primarily a walking track, with most sections making a nice beginners mountain bike trail too.

Starting near Kimbell, the track follows the bank of the Opihi River east past Fairlie until you reach the Opihi Gorge footbridge. Be careful if you carry on past the footbridge, as it gets much more technical from here.

The trail is never too far from the river, so on a hot day you’ll be able to take a swim and cool off. There are also plenty of blackberry bushes to eat along the way in the autumn.

The Opihi River Track – just one of our #52Reasons why you should visit the Legendary Mackenzie!
