Mackenzie Golf Courses

Love golf? The Mackenzie Region has you covered! We have five amazing golf courses located around the region – the Mt Nessing Golf Club in Albury, the Fairlie Golf Club, the Cairns Alpine Resort Golf Course and Balmoral Golf Course at Lake Tekapo and the Ben Ōhau Golf Club in Twizel.

The Mt Nessing Golf Club is a 9-hole course approximately 11km from Albury. The course has many interesting and challenging holes, including the feature hole ‘Aoraki’, so-called because on fine days you’ll get a perfect view of Aoraki/Mount Cook northwards over Burkes Pass.

The Fairlie Golf Club is the only 18-hole course in the region. It is a well-groomed, flat course with a challenging par 70 men’s/par 72 ladies layout.

The Cairns Alpine Resort Golf Course at Lake Tekapo is the highest 9-hole course golf course in New Zealand, sitting at 794 metres above sea level. The views over Lake Tekapo and the surrounding snow-capped mountains make it one of the most spectacular golf courses in the country.

The Mackenzie Golf Club operates at the Balmoral Golf Course, situated 4km from Lake Tekapo. With tree-lined fairways, it’s a great 9-hole golf course for those looking for a challenge.

The Ben Ōhau Golf Club is a 9-hole course nestled close to the centre of Twizel in the Mackenzie Region, featuring tree-lined fairways and well-cared for greens. Views of the Ben Ōhau Range, Southern Alps and Aoraki/Mount Cook can be seen under clear blue skies.
